Runway has now set its sights on the video games industry with its new generative artificial intelligence platform

Runway, the AI startup that recently partnered with AMC Networks is now trying its hand at the gaming industry. According to reports, the company plans to launch Game Worlds, its latest platform next week. The Verge The new tool allows Runway users to create something similar to an interactive text game that can generate images and text from AI. Cristobal Vallenzuela, CEO of Game Worlds, hopes that this will be a first step in the use of AI in the gaming industry. Valenzuela said The Verge, “generated video games are coming later this year,” that Runway was looking to partner up with video game companies. The video game companies will be able use the company’s AI tool, while Runway gets access to video games datasets to train their AI. The use of AI in videogames has already been criticized by industry professionals. This led to the SAG/AFTRA union striking video game companies for using their members’ voices and likenesses to train AI.

Runway was also involved in controversy when it was reported that the company trained its AI using pirated videos and YouTube videos, despite violating the terms of service. Runway wants to replicate its success with major TV and movie studios. Runway had a partnership with Lionsgate before AMC to provide AI for the studio’s “accelerate pre-visualization during development.” In the gaming industry, Runway would not be the first to introduce AI generative tools.
