OnePlus’ next flagship was announced in mid-December 2024, even with an R version. But despite the imminent arrival of its successor, the OnePlus 12 remains a superb device. It ticks almost all the boxes, with its neat design, its excellent screen, its photo performance and its very solid performance. And, if you don’t want to pay the full price, this high-end smartphone loses almost 500 euros of its price.

A pretty smartphone that has something under the hood
The OnePlus 12 is well executed. Aside from the IP65 certification and Gorilla Glass 5, it’s almost faultless from OnePlus. It is very successful, with thin and curved screen borders for a pleasant grip. Its screen does not disappoint: its QHD+ Amoled panel is just as pleasant for the eyes, and offers perfect contrast and faithful color rendering. With a diagonal of 6.82 inches, it is perfect for watching content and is also accompanied by an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, to ensure smooth navigation. Moreover, in terms of interface, OxygenOS 14 (with Android 14) is still great with all its options.
To operate efficiently, the 12 is equipped with the latest chip from Qualcomm: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with here 16 GB of RAM. With such a configuration, the performance is there. It handles all everyday tasks, from the most classic (web browsing, streaming) to the most advanced, all without slowing down. 3D games don’t scare it either, it is capable of running your games at maximum quality and does not heat up too much. On the other hand, on Fortnitewhere we were stuck at 30 FPS, even at maximum quality during our test. Fortunately, nothing serious.
A good camera phone that recharges very quickly
Far from being their strong point before, we clearly feel that OnePlus smartphones are good in photos. Again in partnership with Hasselblad, it consists of a 50 Mpx main sensor, a 48 Mpx ultra-wide-angle, and a 3x periscopic telephoto lens. The main sensor offers great quality, particularly in terms of colors which are very natural and faithful to reality. We have good coherence between the sensors, as well as a very good telephoto lens.
Finally, OnePlus offers a 5,400 mAh battery on its high-end device. A substantial battery that will last the smartphone for a day and a half. It especially puts the package on the recharge side with a power of 100 W. Starting from 10% it took us 25 minutes to fill the battery. The brand is even thinking about wireless charging which amounts to 50 W.
