Chinese online retailer JD.com completed strategic investments on Monday in three embodied-intelligence companies: Spirit AI (also known as embodied intelligence), LimX Dynamics (also known as embodied intelligent), and EngineAI. According to the announcements made by the three companies, it is estimated that the total investment has reached around two billion yuan (280 million dollars) in one day. According to Securities TimesJD.com is focusing its efforts on supply chain scenarios which drive innovative applications.
According to sources, JD.com is also planning to announce partnerships with top robotics brands during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in late July. These collaborations will include consumer products like AI-powered toys, and educational robots.
JD.com has invested RMB 600 million (US$84 million) into Spirit AI. The sums invested by LimX Dynamics and EngineAI in this round are not known. Spirit AI(founded in February 2024) focuses on general purpose embodied intelligence through the integration of AI brains, robot hardware, and scenario based solutions. Its core team is made up of experts from Loongson Robotics Tsinghua University and UC Berkeley. The company has developed a humanoid robot called Moz1 that features force-controlled joints, multimodal foundation models, and multimodal foundation models. Spirit AI is preparing its technologies for deployment in logistics and new energy, as well as eldercare.
LimX Dynamics (
