Kabogo has said he will work with Kenyan youth to promote responsible social media usage and Artificial Intelligence after a series social media exchanges that took place between the youth in Kenya and the political class about alleged corruption, poor management, and abductions.
While he promises to positively engage youth, social media users across the board see his plan as a way to curb the use of social networks in Kenya and possibly ban certain social media platforms or individuals accessing them.
I am honored to have been vetted as CS of the MICDE in the National Assembly. I am grateful for the opportunity to present my vision of a connected, digitally empowered, and innovative future. “Ready to serve,” he wrote on his X profile.
Kabogo wants to direct the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), to look at how social media can still be regulated while allowing freedom of expression, as stipulated by the Kenyan constitution. William Kabogo is the former Kiambu governor who has replaced Margaret Nyambura. She declined her appointment as Kenya’s High Commissioner in Ghana. Margaret Nyambura’s tenure as ICT CS (19459010) was short lived. Kabogo has the opportunity to transform the ICT Ministry and make it work for youth. Kabogo, as a governor of Kenya, stressed the need for a revenue collection system which is automated and allows for accountability and efficiency in order to track activities and roles of the various county unit.
Kabogo implemented technology in Kiambu to improve the infrastructure as counties looked for new cost-effective strategies to improve or build roads. Kiambu developed innovative methods and new designs for their county. These new road designs were cost-effective and maximized the use of available funds. This new process used the nanotechnology to build roads in the county.
