a software for assisted driving.
The upcoming flagship model of Chinese automaker Chery will feature automated driving assist functions from Horizon Robotics’ so-called “Horizon SuperDrive” (HSD) software and hardware system. Mass production is scheduled to begin in September, announced the two companies on April 18 in Shanghai. According to Horizon, the HSD system, powered by Horizon’s Journey 6 processor hardware and a deep-learning model similar to Tesla, called an end-toend neural network could facilitate autonomous urban navigation in Chinese cities. Chery, China’s third largest private automaker in terms of shipments last year, announced a 2022 strategic funding agreement with Horizon. The first sedan under the premium EV brand Exeed will be powered by Horizon’s Journey 3 computing solutions. Horizon, a Hong Kong-listed company, has also partnered up with auto giants such as Volkswagen and BYD. More than 200 vehicle models now feature Horizon’s technology. [TechNode reporting]
