Chinese car giants Geely, Dongfeng and Voyah are set to be the first in their industry to integrate DeepSeek’s artificial intelligence models into their respective in-vehicle entertainment and information systems for their Zeekr and Voyah models. They hope to capitalize on the booming AI trend. Voyah, owned by Dongfeng, announced on Friday that owners of its latest Zhiyin hybrid electric vehicles will be able to access the AI database via over-the air updates starting February 14. This will make it the first production model to support the latest version from the home-grown AI startup.
Geely’s premium electric vehicle brand Zeekr announced on the same day that DeepSeek’s R1 reasoning model had been integrated into its AI Eva assistant and would soon be available to customers with the latest generation infotainment system in their cars. Zeekr vice-president Jiang Jun said that the move would allow Zeekr cars provide information to their users and connect with vehicle controls in a personalized and proactive manner.
DeepSeek is a startup in Hangzhou, eastern China, where Geely also has its headquarters. Last month, it launched an AI chatbot based on a large language model. It claims that the service was developed at a fraction the cost of other services. [TechNode reporting]
