General Motors joint venture with China’s SAIC announced on Tuesday that it is the first among its peers to “deeply” incorporate DeepSeek’s artificial intelligence models into its information and entertainment systems in cars, with the hope of providing its owners with more proactive and human-like services. SAIC-GM announced in a press release that some Cadillac and Buick models will be able support DeepSeek R1 reasoning model. It also said it has incorporated ERNIE Bot AI chatbot service created by Chinese search giant Baidu into its lineups. GM isn’t the only global automaker rushing into the Chinese startup’s latest AI technologies. Smart, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and China’s Geely, announced on Monday that DeepSeek models would soon be available via over-the-air update to owners of its smart#5 compact cars.
