Workday dismisses 1,750 employees citing AI demand

The HR and Finance Management Company, Workday, is the latest technology giant to layoff a large number of employees under the guise of AI. In a Wednesday In an announcement titled “Changes to Position Workday for the Future,” the organization announced that it is eliminating 1,750 employees. This represents about 8.5 percent. The CEO Carl Eschenbach’s public statement was first emailed to all employees. Eschenbach added that Workday would be “prioritizing innovation investments like AI and platform development, and rigorously evaluating the ROI of others across the board.” But, he claimed the company would also “hire in key strategic areas and locations” in this year.

The announcement states that Workday met with as many affected employees as possible on the day of the announcement. Therefore, some people may not know their fate immediately. Employees in the US will receive at least twelve weeks of pay. Employees in other countries, which may have stronger worker protections, will receive benefits according to local regulations.
