The Washington Post and OpenAI announced a “strategic alliance” that will “make quality news more accessible in ChatGPT,” as per a Washington Post press release OpenAI has already partnered with 20 news publishers including News Corp., Business Insider’s parent The Associated Press, Axel Springer and Conde Nast. Vox Media (parent company of The Verge ) is also a partner with OpenAI. According to the press release, “ChatGPT will display summaries and quotes from The Post’s journalism in response to relevant queries.” The Washington Postsays that ChatGPT will feature The Post’s journalism in politics, global affairs and business, as well as technology. The partnership will also provide links to the full articles, so that people can explore topics more deeply and in context. Varun Shetty, OpenAI’s head for media partnerships, said in the press release that “more 500 million people use ChatGPT every week to get answers to questions of all kinds.” The company reached the 400 million weekly users mark in February.
