Tesla’s Full Self Driving Robotaxi has now become a reality.

Tesla Robotaxi launch day has finally arrived. Below is a series (most recent on top) of updates of the content shared at the launch in Austin today.

Elon Musk sends his congratulations

This is a big day for the Tesla AI Team, as they have launched the service that they’ve been working on for years. Elon Musk, the head of Tesla has shared his congratulations to the hardware and software team that made today possible.

Congratulations to the winner of the Super Award! @Tesla_AI (19459039) software & chip designers on a successful @Robotaxi launch!!

The culmination of a decade’s hard work.

The AI chip and software teams at Tesla were both built from scratch.

Elon Musk (@elonmusk). Tesla shares its first robotaxi experience

Tesla’s official account shares their first robotaxi experience in a thread with their 23.9 million followers. Zack (@BLKMDL3) is currently included in this.

Kimbal’s approval

Elon’s brother, Kimbal Musk, a fellow Tesla board member and Elon’s brother has congratulated the Tesla team for today’s Robotaxi release.

There are no tips
Zack shared a video of his experience with the app. When you give a tip you can leave a comment, a rating (out 5 lightning bolts), and a tip. You can tip in America as you do with most services. Tesla has a funny image of a Cyber Hedgehog instead.

Tesla usually shows a hedgehog on their website after a vehicle purchase.

RobotaTaxi Tips

It’s nice that Tesla includes instructions on how to open a door. Robotaxi is a common knowledge for Tesla users, but it will also be used by people who are getting into their first Tesla.

Rider experience
Sawyer shared a video about the rider’s experience. When you get into the back of a Robotaxi the screen on the rear welcomes you. “Welcome Sawyer”.

Robotaxi Headquarters

Ashok Elluswamy, Head of Autopilot has shared a picture from inside Tesla. This gives an insight into what the engineering team has been through to make today’s technology possible.

With billions invested, the engineers can now monitor their work at Robotaxi HQ. On one of the displays it lists 112 rides (possibly cars who have contributed data).

The livestreams

Tesla Robotaxi is now available to consumers. There are a few people who live stream their experience.

The rear-screen
Zack shared the robotaxi’s rear-screen.

First Tesla Robotaxi ride for customers is happening.

Georestriction.

Although the initial service area appears to be small, it is now a matter of seeing how quickly Tesla can expand this area. According to this overlay, Tesla launched with roughly half of the Waymo’s service area in Austin. Texas.

The Tesla Robotaxi Mobile App has been released

There have been more sightings of Tesla Robotaxis.

Tesla is being quite subtle with the branding of the robotaxi. The logos are placed on both sides of the vehicle using the Robotaxi font. There’s no need to make it obvious, as hailing will be done through the app.

Robotaxi Mobile App

Greggertruck shared a screenshot from the dedicated Robotaxi application. We don’t have any screenshots, but we expect to send them out to Early Access Riders in the next few hours.

Tesla Robotaxi account added to X

If you’re interested in receiving updates on the service, it is worth following the Tesla Robotaxi page on X.

Tesla Robotaxi Website

Tesla’s dedicated page for the service is now live. https://www.tesla.com/robotaxi . This is a pretty basic page, but it does formalise launch of the service. This confirms that the UI of Robotaxi will be a standard UI, and not the dev mode seen in recent days by employees.

It also includes a hyperlink to a Robotaxi support page that details the Terms and Conditionsfor the service (currently Early Access).

Price

Tesla confirms the pricing for rides in the Early Access Program is a flat rate of $4.20. This means that the financial chain is in place. Tesla has not yet decided on the formula (distance/time/etc) for paid rides.

At this stage, we are unable to compare robotaxi prices or gain insight.

The launch of the ahref=””https://twitter.com/Tesla_AI?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw””>@Tesla_AI (19459039]robotaxi in Austin begins this afternoon, with customers paying $4.20 as a flat fee!
