Shanghai cracks down illegal AI content on major platforms (
Shanghai’s Cyberspace Administration has instructed platforms such as Xiaohongshu Bilibili, and PDD to remove unauthorized AI generated products and content, as part of a nationwide campaign to curb AI abuse. Since late April, the regulator focused on six types violations, including AI tools that can undress people in one click, unauthorized voice or face cloning and unregistered AI service. More than 820,000 illegal postings have been removed. More than 1,400 accounts have been penalized. And about 2,700 noncompliant AI agent posts were taken down. Platforms like Xiaohongshu or Bilibili also have reporting channels for harmful AI material. Authorities have stressed compliance among developers who offer generative AI services. 82 large models, and 87 applications have been registered so far.
