We heard last month that the Samsung Galaxy A17 would feature optical image stabilization for its main camera. This will be the first time for the A1x Series. Samsung spent so much money on the camera that it appears there was not enough left to upgrade the chipset. The Galaxy A17 5G appeared on Geekbench using the same chip as the predecessor.

Exynos 1330 was used in the Galaxy A14 5G, and Galaxy A16 5G. This 5nm chips has two Cortex A78 cores @2.4GHz and six Cortex A55 cores @2.0GHz, plus a Mali G68 MP2 GPU.

The chipset supports LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM. This particular unit had 6GB (we don’t know which kind), but we suspect this is only one of several options – e.g. the A16 5G had 4GB, 6GB and 8GB configurations. The chip works with UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 storage.

Also, it can handle 1080p+ displays up to 120Hz, though previous A1x models have only gone up to 90Hz.

Somewhat disappointingly, Geekbench reported Android 15 – this means One UI 7. Keep in mind that the Galaxy A17 5G (and 4G model, if there is one) will probably be announced towards the end of the year when many Galaxys will already be running One UI 8.
