There’s bad news for S Pen lovers: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra S Pen is reportedly going to ditch Bluetooth. This could limit some features. Ishan Agarwal shared the news on Twitter/X, stating that “retail sources” claim that the S Pen will no longer feature Bluetooth. Agarwal has a reputation for being a reliable leaker but it is always best to be skeptical.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra used Bluetooth Low Energy (LE), and the S Pen to communicate with the phone. This enabled features such as Air gesture controls and using the S Pen to take pictures remotely.
Retail sources confirm that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen will no longer have Bluetooth.
This means that you will lose some features such as gestures and remote control.

If Samsung drops Bluetooth connectivity on the S Pen with the S25 Ultra, those features might go away, too. Android Policehas suggested that Samsung may switch to a different connectivity standard. Agarwal does not specify in the leak. We may have to wait until the S25 Ultra unveiling to learn what Samsung plans.
No matter what happens, let’s hope Samsung doesn’t reduce the S Pen’s functionality. We won’t have to wait long before we find out. Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on January 22nd. It is widely expected that the Galaxy S25 series will be unveiled at this event. Registering for the event will also get you a $100 eVoucher towards one of the new smartphones.
