According to Jerry Tworek VP of OpenAI Research,
ChatGPT’s Operator, currently in research preview, is soon to become “very useful tool,” .
Openai””https://openai.com/index/introducing-operator/” ” rel=””nofollow noopener”” target=””_blank” “> Operator was announced in January for $200 Pro subscribers, and allows users to delegate tasks to the AI agent.
The AI agent Operator automates repetitive browser tasks which do not require the user’s attention.
You can let Operator do the searching for you instead of using a web browser. You can ask Operator, for example, to fill out forms, order groceries, or place orders.
Operator is not useful or productive in its current state and fails to perform basic tasks. OpenAI promises a useful Operator experience.
In a Reddit Ask-me-Anything (AMA), OpenAI stated that it plans to release a number of significant improvements for Operator.
“We also already have a product surface that can do things on your computer – it’s called operator, it’s still a research preview, but we’re planning to make some improvements soon and it can become a very useful tool then,” Jerry Tworek is the VP of Research for OpenAI and wrote a Reddit message.
Jerry Tworek hinted that OpenAI might be able to bring all these tools together, so it feels like a single thing, perhaps an AI platform.
Although we don’t yet know the exact approach, OpenAI confirmed in the past that it had plans to integrate various products or models into GPT-5 which is the next foundational model of the company.
