challenges Microsoft 365 Copilot “company knowledge,” with a new ChatGPT Feature that connects to organization data to generate business specific answers.
Available for ChatGPT Enterprise, Edu and Business, company knowledge now integrates with apps such as Slack and SharePoint. It also integrates with Google Drive, Teams and Outlook. OneDrive is notable for its absence, which may be a problem for some organizations.
Users authenticate every connector individually, so ChatGPT (powered GPT-5) can only access data that it is authorized to view. OpenAI claims that all data is encrypted and will not be used for training. Enterprise Compliance API allows administrators to review conversation logs for regulatory and reporting purposes. The Register had asked OpenAI
where data would end up and how it would be processed. OpenAI responded by sending us a copy the announcement. OpenAI’s Atlas shrugs off the inevitable prompt injection, and releases AI browser anyway
The company knowledge is a shot in the direction of Microsoft 365 Copilot which has struggled to gain traction despite positive productivity studies – others show neutral or even negative resultsOpenAI’s corporate push is not without its limitations. ChatGPT’s company knowledge mode is not as integrated as Microsoft’s “Copilot All The Things” and must be manually selected in each conversation. It also cannot search the web, generate images, or create graphs. Users must toggle the feature off to use it. OpenAI stated:
ChatGPT may still use connectors to answer your questions when disabled. “but its responses won’t include the same depth or detailed citations.” OpenAI added: “We’re working to bring these experiences together in the coming months.”
ChatGPT is available for $25 per user, per month on an annual plan, compared to Microsoft 365 Copilot’s a href=””https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/pricing””rel=””nofollow” “target=””_blank” “>$30 per month feeChatGPT Business is available for $25 per user per month (on an annual plan) versus Microsoft 365 Copilot’s a href=””https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/pricing”” rel=””nofollow” ” target=””_blank” “>$30 monthly fee(r)
