Global Rollout Following Positive User Feedback

Encouraged by the overwhelmingly favorable responses during the trial phase, OpenAI has announced plans to extend this group chat capability to all ChatGPT users worldwide. This expansion will be implemented gradually over the coming days, encompassing every tier of ChatGPT subscriptions.

According to OpenAI’s official blog, “Early feedback from the pilot has been positive, so we’re expanding group chats to all logged-in users on ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans globally over the coming days. We will continue refining the experience as more people start using it.”

Features and Functionality of Group Chats

The group chat feature enables users to invite up to 20 participants into a single conversation. Responses within these group chats are generated by ChatGPT Auto, an intelligent system that dynamically selects the most suitable AI model based on the nature of the prompts and the user’s available models.

It’s important to note that rate limits apply solely to ChatGPT’s responses, not to the messages exchanged between users within the group. This ensures smooth and uninterrupted communication among participants while managing AI resource usage effectively.
