Cloud Gaming on the Go: GeForce Now has finally arrived in Valve’s Steam Deck. Nvidia encourages its users to install this new native app onto their gaming handhelds so they can enjoy a significant increase in performance and framerate while reducing energy consumption.

Nvidia announced a native application to access GeForce now on the Steam Deck at this year’s CES in January. The AI giant has now officially launched the tool, along with a few other games to demonstrate the experience.

Nvidia claims that the GeForce Now application can be used to play games. Stream games at up to 4K and 60 frames per seconds on any Steam Deck model when connected to an outside display. The cloud gaming service offers all the bells, whistles, and features that a modern GeForce should have. This includes HDR10 and DLSS 4. It also offers Nvidia Reflex. Nvidia claims GeForce Now offers graphical fidelity, performance and levels of gaming that are far superior to native Steam Deck gaming. The app can also extend battery life up to 50% when compared with running games natively.

Nvidia boasts GeForce Now’s ability to achieve gaming results that are comparable to owning a physical, bulky GeForce 4080 GPU for a fraction the price on a meager, handheld device which won’t overheat.

GeForce Now will also let Steam Deck owners play games that would never be able to run natively on the portable device, including graphically-demanding titles such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Monster Hunter Wilds and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The GeForce Now application can be downloaded from Nvidia’s website

. The company also released an installation guidethat outlines the steps. The app must be installed using Desktop Mode. This means it cannot be set-up through the Steam Deck built-in browser.

Nvidia has added six new titles to its GeForce Now library. These include Nice Day for Fishing (as well as Cash Cleaner Simulator), Tokyo Xtreme Racer (as well as The Last Spell), Tainted Grail : The Fall of Avalon and Torque Drift 2 (as well as The Last Spell).

Nice Day for Fishing, a new Steam release, is available directly from Epic Game Store.
