Nvidia GTC stock over 2% lower amid General Motors partnership and new AI chip announcements.

Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang announced several new products at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC), held on March 18, 2019. Huang’s keynote address focused on Nvidia’s future in AI, robotics, and advanced computing.

After the announcement, the company’s stock did not show any improvement. It had been in the negative since before the GTC. Nvidia is under pressure because of concerns about US tariffs and economic uncertainty, as well as potential overspending on AI Infrastructure.

Nvidia Partners with GM to Develop Self-Driving Technology

Huang said that Nvidia would partner with General Motors for the future development of self-driving factories and robots. Nvidia’s AI-powered chips, simulation technology and other tools will be a key element in helping GM develop their upcoming fleet of autonomous vehicles. General Motors’ stock rose marginally following the announcement, but it was still down almost 1 percent. Nvidia is extending AI from data centers to industrial applications through this collaboration.

The growing demand for AI infrastructure shows how society has become more reliant on it than ever before to run modern applications.

Nvidia announces AI strategy and new chips

Huang explains the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Starting with fundamental perception modeling, it progresses to the agentic AI stage which allows autonomous learning and planning capabilities. According to his plan, physical AI is the next phase since these systems create humanoid robotics that can interact in real environments.

Nvidia intends to introduce Blackwell Ultra GB300AI chips, which will offer customers at least 50% larger memory capacities and significantly stronger performance capabilities. The company’s upcoming Rubin GPU, which was also announced at GPU, will be available in 2026.
