NVIDIA announced at CES 2025 that DLSS 4, its latest version of real-time image scaling technology, will be available on all RTX graphics cards. The older models, including the RTX 20 Series that was discontinued in 2020, will not get all of its features.

DLSS 4 will be enabled in the new GeForce RTX50 series models. This feature can generate up to three frames for each traditionally rendered frame, and can help multiply frame rate by up to eight-fold more than traditional brute force rendering. NVIDIA claims that 4K 240 FPS ray-traced games will be possible with its GeForce GTX 5090 graphics cards, the new flagship GPUs arriving later this month.

DLSS 4 is also what the company calls the “biggest upgrade to its AI models” released since the release DLSS 2. DLSS Ray Reconstruction and DLSS Super Resolution will now be powered with the same advanced architecture that powers AI models such as ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini. The company claims that this translates into improved temporal stability and less ghosting of objects in motion.

75 games and apps support DLSS 4, starting from the first day. Multi Frame Generation will be available on games like Alan Wake (19459013]or Cyberpunk (2077 when the new RTX cards are released. Multi Frame will be added to more titles in the future. This includes Black Myth: Wukong, and upcoming games like Doom: The Dark Ages, Dune: Awakening, etc.

GeForce RTX40 series GPUs won’t get Multi Frame Generation but will instead receive DLSS 4 enhanced frame generation, enhanced ray construction, super resolution, and deep leaning Anti-Aliasing capabilities. The GeFore RTX 40 series GPUs will get the last three.
