(

). Platos Health (19459005) has raised $1.4m in pre-seed financing to scale up its AI-driven prevention health platform, Platos Monitor. The company aims to make proactive healthcare accessible throughout Nigeria and beyond. The funding round, led by Google For Startups, included Invest International, Tesla, Unicredit, and angel investors affiliated with Google.

Platos Health, founded in 2020 by Joseph Fakayode is tackling Nigeria’s alarming burden chronic diseases. The country, with over 200 million people, has fewer than 500 cardiologists–creating an urgent need for scalable health solutions.

Platos’ flagship solution, the Platos Body Monitor is a medical grade device capable of tracking a wide range of health metrics, including body fat, BMI and visceral fat. The Platos Body Monitor syncs with Platos Monitor, a software available on Android, iOS and web platforms. It also integrates seamlessly into Apple Health and Google Health Connect.

Over 300 pharmacies in Nigeria already stock the device. The new funding will speed up its nationwide distribution, and further develop the AI powered platform. The company’s vision aims to provide individuals at home with real-time, personalized health monitoring and recommendations, enabling early diagnosis and prevention of chronic disease. Joseph Fakayode said, “Our mission is preventive healthcare to be the default option and not a luxury.” By combining medical-grade device with AI, we empower users with insights that could transform their health journeys.

Platos Health’s innovative approach comes during a time when African healthcare systems are under pressure. Its data-driven and tech-enabled solution offers a scalable option. This investment not only validates Platos Health’s impact, but also signals a growing investor confidence in Africa’s health-tech sector.
