Casio’s new EFK-100D-2A and EFK-100D-7A mechanical watches are now purchasable in the US for $280. Both feature sapphire glass, a see-through back, and 40-hour power reserve in a 43.5mm steel case. Stocks are expected to be limited.

Casio’s long-awaited entry into mechanical watchmaking is now available in the US. These watches were first spotted on the official Casio website just a few weeks ago. EFK-100D-2A (featuring a dial in blue) and the Efk 100d-7A with a silver dial is now available on Casio’s US website.

Casio is bringing mechanical engineering to the Edifice range, which has traditionally been known for quartz-based chronographs and smart features. These new models are stripped down to a classic 3-hand automatic movement, with a date display at 6 o’clock. Each watch has a transparent case back that allows you to see the inner workings and rotor in action.

Both models have the same stainless steel 43.5mm case, but their dials make them different. The EFK100D-2A has a dial in a deep blue with a forged carbon-like texture. The EFK100D-7A has a dial in a lighter silver white with similar detailing. Casio created these textured surfaces using electroforming, giving them an almost organic, layered look. The hands and dials are mirror-polished, with luminous tips to improve visibility in low-light conditions.

The specs for this watch are very practical and well-rounded.

  • Movement is automatic with manual winding.
  • Energy reserve: 40 hrs.
  • Accuracy -35 to+45 seconds per day.
  • Sapphire crystal glass.
  • 100 meters (10 bars) water resistance.
  • Case thickening: 12.5 mm.
  • Solid stainless steel band, 3-fold clasp.
  • [10 bar]
  • [10][10][10][10][10][10][10][10][10][10][][10][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]148 grams]148 grams? The band tapers into the case with alternating brushed links and polished links to create contrast. Both models feature a magnetic-resistant design, and sapphire crystals provide additional scratch protection.

This is Casio’s first mechanical watch under the Edifice name. Stock availability will be limited, especially with the relatively low price for an automatic watch by a major Japanese manufacturer. Both models are available now at Casio’s official store. The previously spotted EFK100CD-1A with black dial has now been released. We can expect to see a change in the next few days.
