Meta is talking about a multi-billion-dollar investment in Scale AI. Bloombergreports that the deal could be worth more than $10 billion. The deal could be worth more than $10 billion. This would make it the largest AI investment made by Facebook’s parent and one of largest funding events for a private firm.
Scale AI, whose CEO Alexandre Wang is pictured in the above picture, provides data labeling to companies like Microsoft and OpenAI for them to train their AI models. Contractors do a lot of the labeling work. In fact, the Department of Labor dropped its investigation to see if the company misclassified and underpaid employees. Bloomberg reports that the company generated $870 million last year and is expecting to generate $2 billion this coming year.
