Instacart names Chris Rogers, chief business officer, as its new CEO

Instacart announced that Chris Rogers has been appointed the new CEO of the company. The appointment takes effect on August 15. Rogers will join Instacart’s board of directors.

This announcement comes just a few weeks following Instacart CEO Fijiannounced that she is stepping down from her position as CEO of Applications at OpenAI. Simo will continue to be the chair of Instacart’s board.

In the role of chief business officer, Rogers was responsible for Instacart’s retailer relationships and expansions. He also oversaw Ad Sales and R&D as well as Partnerships, Mergers & Acquisitions and Instacart Business. Rogers joined Instacart as managing director of Apple Canada in 2019. He spent nearly 11 years with Apple. Instacart reports that he began his career with Procter & Gamble where he managed relationships with Canada’s biggest national grocery retailers.

Rogers stated in a statement that “Instacart is at the heart of how people shop, care for their family, and eat.” Press release“Together, with our partners, and we’re transforming future of grocery shopping but more importantly, helping people solve real everyday needs.” We have a world class team, deep partnerships and leading technology. I’m honored that Instacart is moving forward with a bold vision. In a blog postRogers stated that Instacart’s vision would remain the same and that it will continue to focus its “unwavering dedication to growing the pie” for retailers and brands. He also stated that Instacart would work to provide shoppers with more flexible earning opportunities on its platform. In a letter sent to employees, Simo said that Rogers played a crucial role in shaping Instacart. She will continue to work closely with him to ensure a smooth transition.

Simo wrote, “We chose Chris as the company needed a leader that understands our partners deeply, who has vast operational experience, and who can mobilize our teams around our vision.” “Chris is familiar with this company. He helped to shape it. Chris will carry out our mission with conviction, passion, and ambition. I could not be more excited to see him step into the role as CEO and lead Instacart’s next phase of expansion.”
