Huawei Introduces the Mate 80 Series and Mate X7 Foldable Featuring HarmonyOS 6 and Advanced AI Capabilities

On 25 November 2025, Huawei officially launched its latest flagship lineup, the Mate 80 Series, alongside the innovative foldable Mate X7. Both devices are powered by the cutting-edge Kirin 9030 chipset family, marking a significant leap in mobile processing power and efficiency. The Mate 80 Pro 12GB variant is equipped with the standard Kirin 9030, while the higher-end 16GB Mate 80 Pro Max, Mate X7, and Pro Max models utilize the enhanced Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. Notably, the Mate 80 Pro Max stands out as the first 5G flagship smartphone to feature a premium metal chassis, combining durability with sleek design.

HarmonyOS 6: Revolutionizing User Interaction with Smarter AI Agents

Both the Mate 80 series and Mate X7 debut HarmonyOS 6, Huawei’s latest operating system iteration, which introduces sophisticated AI enhancements. The intelligent assistant, Xiaoyi, evolves beyond simple voice commands to autonomously learn and manage app functionalities, streamlining user workflows. The Mate X7 leverages A2A (Agent-to-Agent) collaboration technology, enabling seamless integration of third-party applications. This includes features such as split-screen booking management, contextual item searches, and instantaneous language translation, enhancing multitasking and communication.

Additionally, Xiaoyi Notes offers advanced productivity tools like automatic meeting transcription, intelligent tagging, and video summarization. It also supports rapid document comparison, allowing users to quickly identify differences in text and data, a valuable feature for professionals and students alike.

Next-Generation Imaging with Second-Generation Hongfeng and Enhanced ISP

The Mate 80 series is equipped with Huawei’s second-generation Hongfeng imaging system, paired with a ninth-generation Image Signal Processor (ISP) to deliver exceptional photography performance. This camera system improves color fidelity by 43%, increases light sensitivity by 96% through 2.45μm megapixels, and expands dynamic range by 300% using advanced DCG (Dual Conversion Gain) technology.

The Mate 80 Pro Max features a main sensor capable of 17.5EV high dynamic range and incorporates dual periscope lenses to cover a comprehensive focal length spectrum. It also introduces innovative “Dynamic Rocking Shot” modes for stabilized video capture. Meanwhile, the Mate X7’s custom camera module boasts a 1/1.56″ main sensor (upgraded from the previous 1/1.28″ in the collector’s edition), complemented by a 50MP telephoto macro lens and an ultra-wide angle lens, enhancing color accuracy by 43% and overall image quality.

Pricing and Availability

The Mate 80 series will be available starting 28 November 2025 at 10:08 AM, with prices beginning at 4,699 RMB for the base 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The Mate 80 Pro is priced at 5,999 RMB, the Pro Max at 7,999 RMB, and the premium RS Masterpiece Edition at 11,999 RMB.
