China’s DeepSeek AI was deployed for the very first time as part of an international earthquake relief effort in Myanmar, providing real-time interpretation for aid workers. Following two devastating earthquakes last Friday, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar launched an emergency Chinese-Myanmar-English translation system developed on the DeepSeek platform. The National Language Service Corps of China and Beijing Language and Culture University created the tool in just seven hours. According to Myanmar’s State Administration Council, the 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude earthquakes that struck Sagaing in Myanmar have caused nearly 2,900 deaths and more than 4,600 injured people. Hundreds of people are still missing. The DeepSeek system has helped international aid teams communicate more effectively despite language barriers. China has sent more than 500 people to help in relief efforts. Nearly 30 rescue teams have been sent.[IThomein Chinese]
