The US tech market is awash with uncertainty, as tariffs on major manufacturing hubs threatens to increase the prices of electronics. We haven’t seen that yet. In fact, we’ve found some new models at fresh discounts.
Although the Samsung Galaxy A36 was released a few weeks ago, it was still selling at its $400 MSRP as late as last weekend. Now it is down to $340 which is a more affordable price.
It comes with One UI 7 and a six-month update window. It has a 6.7-inch 1080p+ screen, a 5,000mAh (now with 45W charging), a GG Victus+ plastic frame on the front and rear and an IP67 rating. The phone is powered with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Storage is not expandable. The A36 features a 50MP OIS camera, an 8MP ultra wide and a 12MP front-facing camera with 4K recording. CMF teases a new Pro model. For now, we have the CMF phone 1, which is on sale. This is the 8/256GB model and unlike the Samsung there is a slot for a microSD card. The Dimensity 7300 has similar performance to the Snapdragon, and the 6.67″ OLED 120Hz display is similar too – except that it does not have tough glass. The battery is 5,000mAh and charges at 33W. The CMF Phone, which launched with Android 14, will only receive 2 OS updates.
Samsung has announced new FE tablets, and they are now in stock. Both tablets are powered by Exynos 1580 which is also found on the Galaxy A56, due to be released in the US soon. They both have 90Hz IPS displays.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE features a 10.9″ display with 1440p+ and an 8,000mAh lithium-ion battery that charges at 45W. This generation is thinner, lighter, and smaller than the Tab S9 (6.0mm, 497g, vs. 523g, 6.5mm).
The Galaxy Tab S10 is bigger than before, with a 13.1-inch 1800p+ display. The battery is the same as the Tab S9FE+ at 10,090mAh. This generation does not have the ultra-wide lens, but it has a 13MP camera on the rear. Both tablets come with S Pens and expandable storage.
The Apple iPad Air 11 (20025), the newly-released version with an Apple M3 processor, is only $50 higher than the Tab S10FE. Its 11″ LCD runs at 60Hz. The Tab S10 FE’s higher 90Hz is just a step up. The iPad supports multitasking with an external monitor, but the Galaxy tablet doesn’t (it has DeX, but only a USB2.0 port).
The Apple iPad Air 13 (2025) is more expensive than its Galaxy S10 FE+ competitor of similar size. It is powered by an Apple M3, the same chip that powers the 11″ model. The only downside is that iPadOS is more limited than macOS. Apple updated the vanilla iPad with an A16 chipet. It’s faster than A14, which is in the 2022 iPad. However, the limited performance and RAM mean that Apple Intelligence is not available. Samsung’s Tab S10 FE Duo has Galaxy AI, and the iPad Airs have AI as well.
