David Sacks is Trump’s AI and Crypto “czar.” In an interview with Fox on Tuesday Sacks said that there is “substantial proof” that Chinese AI firm DeepSeek “distilled knowledge” from OpenAI AI models. Sacks compared this process to theft. Sacks, without citing the source of “evidence,” suggested DeepSeek used OpenAI’s responses to train its own models. Sacks said, “I don’t believe OpenAI is happy about this.” U.S. officials are paying increasing attention to DeepSeek. The company, which became viral this week due to its highly-performant models and free chat applications, is now openly available. According to Reuters (19459042), the National Security Council, the U.S. body which advises the President on foreign policy and national safety, is reviewing the implications for DeepSeek’s applications, which topped Apple App Store last weekend.
