China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has announced the creation of the AI Standardization Technical Committee. The committee is tasked with developing standards for the AI industry in key AI areas, including model evaluations, datasets and software platforms, large-language models, and AI Risk Management. The 41-member committee is made up of prominent figures in academia and industry. The committee includes notable members such as Ma Yanjun, the General Manager of Baidu’s AI technology ecosystem, Judy Zhu Hongru Vice President and head of Alibaba’s cloud unit’s standardization operations, Jiang Jie Vice President and head of Tencent’s AI Lab, and You Fang Director of Huawei’s Standardization Department. The committee has also recruited AI experts from companies like SenseTime, voice-recognition giant iFlyTek and Alibaba’s fintech subsidiary Ant Group. [MIIT, in Chinese]
