ChatGPT
is bringing Deep Research directly into GitHub’s developer ecosystem. ChatGPT Pro, Team, and Plus users will be the first to have access in the coming days. ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu plan members will be able to test it “soon.” Users are able to grant the AI assistant the ability to access selected code repositories, and can ask questions about the contents of these repositories. ChatGPT will respond with cited reports.
AI assistants have a large audience of programmers. A tool like ChatGPT will quickly review code to see if you have left a bracket open or explain why a certain function isn’t functioning. Looping the chatbot into GitHub would streamline the process. Microsoft also owns GitHub, and has invested heavily in OpenAI.
Originally, Deep Research was a chatbot that focused on analysis and required a Pro plan. In February, OpenAI opened it to all paying users ChatGPT.
