Robin Li, Baidu’s founder, said at the main forum that the daily usage volume of the company’s ERNIE Foundational Model had exceeded 1.5 billion. This has grown 7.5 times in a little over half a year. Wang Haifeng revealed that ERNIE Bot has reached 430,000,000 users.

Why is it important: Baidu’s AI glasses integrate AI hardware and software, while ERNIE Bot’s rapid growth in daily usage and users shows the increasing adoption AI-powered technology in China.

Details According to the company, Baidu’s AI Glasses will be launched during the first half 2025.

  • The Xiaodu AI Glasses weigh 45 grams and feature a 16MP wide-angle camera with AI-powered shake-reduction. They offer up to 56-hours of standby and over 5-hours of continuous use and can be charged in 30 minutes.
  • These glasses feature a four microphone array and sound leakage prevention open-design speakers. The glasses can distinguish between noises that are made by the wearer or others.
  • Baidu AI glasses are said to enhance the user’s experience by freeing their hands and providing a first-person view for capturing important moments while traveling. The glasses, which are integrated with Baidu Maps search functions and Baidu Maps, provide on-the-go access historical and cultural information for travel scenarios. According to Baidu, the device combines visual and location-based technology and functions as a “walking dictionary” for real-time learning and exploration.

Context : Baidu announced a number of new AI technologies to accelerate the growth of AI applications. These included iRAG, a new technology that is designed to combat hallucinations when creating images, and Miaoda (Image-Based Retrieval – Augmented Generation), a tool with no-code that empowers individuals and businesses to create applications. iRAG, a text-to-image model that uses Baidu Search’s collection of hundreds of million images and the company’s strong foundation models capabilities, allows for hyper-realistic visuals to be produced while reducing costs.
