Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple has created a new team in order to create a ChatGPT like app. This team, reportedly named Answers, Knowledge, and Information, is working on building an “answer engine”which can answer questions using information from the web. This could be an app that runs on its own or add search functionality to Siri, Safari and other Apple products.
Gurman notes that Apple advertises for jobs in this team. They are specifically looking for applicants with experience with search engines and algorithms.
Apple has already integrated ChatGPT in Siri, but a more personalized AI-powered update has been repeatedly postponed. Apple may also have to change its search agreement with Google due to the antitrust ruling against Google.
