Apple has denied Musk’s claim that its App Store is biased

Elon Musk recently accused Apple of favoring OpenAI in the App Store rankings over other AI apps. However, the Cupertino technology giant denies these accusations.

Apple sent a press release toBloomberg said that its App Store was “designed to be free of bias and fair.” The spokesperson added that the App store features “thousands” of apps via charts, algorithmic suggestions, and curated lists that were selected by experts based on objective criteria.

Hey a href=””https://twitter.com/Apple?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw””>@Apple App Store

AppStore, why don’t you put either X (the #1 news app in world) or Grok (the #5 app among all apps) in your “Must Have section?

Do you play politics? What’s the deal? What’s going on? https://t.co/3wenLZGtwG

Musk says that Apple’s App Store is an antitrust violation because it favours OpenAI. Musk also said that X would take legal action and asked Apple why they refused to place X or Grok on the ‘Must Haves’ section of the App Store. He also claimed that X was the number one news application in the world, and Grok was in the top five apps of all time. Therefore, it should be included in this section. Musk did not provide any evidence.

Despite Musk’s claims however, the Chinese AI App, DeepSeek, reached the top of free app rankings once, as did Perplexity. Both after Apple and OpenAI announced the partnership.
