Aito 9 Launches as a Premium Electric SUV, Expanding Its Reach Globally
From China to the World: Aito’s Ambitious Global Expansion
Emerging from a strategic partnership between Chinese automaker Seres and tech giant Huawei, Aito is making waves as it steps onto the global stage at the IAA Mobility 2025 event in Munich, Germany. This move marks a significant milestone for the brand, which aims to deliver a sophisticated blend of luxury and cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) technology to new international markets.
While the initial rollout targets the Middle East, Aito plans to broaden its presence with a lineup that includes flagship extended-range SUVs alongside more accessible entry-level and mid-tier models. These vehicles feature state-of-the-art battery systems and expansive in-cabin digital displays, designed to elevate the driving experience.
Innovative Powertrains and Advanced Features Across the Aito Range
The Aito 9, the brand’s premier model, is a versatile 5- to 6-seater SUV equipped with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive capabilities. It combines a 52 kWh NMC ternary battery with a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine in its extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant. For those seeking a fully electric experience, the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version delivers an impressive 390 kW (523 hp), surpassing the EREV’s 365 kW (489 hp) output.
Complementing the Aito 9 is the compact Aito 5, which offers both BEV and EREV configurations. The BEV model utilizes an 83 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery capable of producing up to 200 kW, while the EREV variant features a 1.5-liter engine paired with a 42 kWh battery, delivering a peak power of 489 kW in all-wheel drive mode.
Positioned between these two is the Aito 7, featuring a 1.5-liter engine and a 42 kWh NMC battery. This model generates up to 330 kW (449 hp) and includes a comprehensive digital cockpit with primary and instrument displays, though it omits the passenger-side screen found in the Aito 9.
Cutting-Edge Interior Technology and User Experience
Inside the Aito 9, drivers and passengers are treated to a high-tech environment highlighted by a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an additional 16-inch display for the front passenger. This trio of screens offers seamless access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle information, setting a new standard for in-car digital interfaces.
The Aito 7 and 5 models also feature advanced display systems tailored to their respective segments, ensuring a consistent focus on user-friendly smart mobility across the lineup.
Market Positioning and Future Prospects
Seres Auto President Leon He emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering “an unmatched new luxury smart mobility experience” as Aito enters new territories. The brand’s strategy includes offering a diverse array of powertrain options to cater to varying regional preferences and regulatory environments.
With the global EV market projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 20% through 2030, Aito’s timely expansion positions it well to capture a share of the burgeoning demand for premium electric SUVs. The brand’s focus on combining performance, luxury, and smart technology aligns with current consumer trends favoring sustainable yet sophisticated vehicles.
