Creators of Shorts can already use the Veo 2 model from the previous generation to create backgrounds and standalone clips with Dream Screen. Mohan did not specify what Veo 3 would enable in Shorts. However, he did mention Veo 3’s improved video quality, and that it could incorporate audio. So presumably, those upgrades will be coming.
Also, it’s unclear if Shorts creators have to pay for Veo 3. As of now, Veo 3 videos can only be created by paying for Google’s AI Pro and AI Ultra plans. Google did not immediately respond to a comment request.
Mohan announced that Shorts now average more than 200 billion views each day.
