The Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra is overpriced and has a short software support window. But you only need one reason to not buy it.
Currently, the phone is only available in a few regions. However, this is not a big issue. This is likely a reflection of how few people are interested in buying the Zenfone 12 Ultra (4%) – the lowest number we’ve seen for a long time.
Asus discontinued the small Zenfone models a few generations ago, probably due to poor sales. Asus could still make a small Zenfone model again, as there are few small smartphones available today. There are plenty of large smartphones, and the Ultra isn’t particularly unique.
As we noted in our review, the improved gimbal stabilization feature is quite good. The new AI features that are permeating the software can even challenge Samsung. Asus, like many other brands, is far behind Samsung in terms of support for software.
Perhaps gamers upgrade more often than other users. The ROG models may not be affected as much, but the Zenfone isn’t. It’s also quite expensive, making frequent upgrades less likely.
There were a number of complaints about the Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra โ some people didn’t like its design, while others questioned its 1080p+ display on the large 6.78-inch screen. Most commenters were concerned that Asus only received two OS updates. If it wants to attract new buyers, Asus needs to rethink their strategy.
