The phone is available globally, costing EUR250/PS220/Rs19,000 for the base 8/128GB model and EUR280/PS250/Rs21,000 for the 256GB upgrade (still with 8GB of RAM). When we say “globally”that includes the US. The 8/256GB phone can be purchased for $280 through the Beta Program.

This phone has a lot to offer, but its camera is the most important. The 50MP 2x (50mm telephoto) camera is rare at this price point. The 50MP main camera (with a 1/1.57″ sensor that is quite large but lacks OIS) is joined by an 8MP ultra wide and a 50MP main. It’s not revolutionary, but the Phone 1 had only a single 50MP camera on the back.

Other features include a microSD card slot, an add-on back with MagSafe magnetic connectors (but without wireless charging), and so on. The Dimensity 7300 Pro has remained largely unchanged since the original. However, it was already overpowered for its category.

CMF Phone 2 Pro highlights

The CMF Phone 2 Pro falls into a higher price range, so let’s take a look at its competition. The Samsung Galaxy A36 is available for EUR330 for a model with 8/128GB, which makes it a little more expensive than the CMF. It has a better water resistance (IP67 as opposed to IP54), and its 50MP camera does have OIS even though it uses a smaller sensor (1/1.96″).

The 8MP ultra-wide camera and 5MP macro are available, but there is no telephoto. The battery capacities remain the same, at 5,000mAh. However, the A36 charges faster (45W as opposed to 33W). This model does not have a microSD card, but the Snapdragon 6 Gen3 is comparable to the Dimensity. The Galaxy will receive twice as many OS upgrades, six in total.

It has a 6.67-inch panel with a higher resolution of 1220p+ and a 12-bit display with Dolby vision. It has a large 6,000mAh mAh battery and fast 90W charging. It is water resistant (IP69). The downside is the camera, which is closer to that of the A36 than the CMF. It is 50MP main (1/1.96″) OIS and 8MP ultra wide. The Poco phone will receive the same number of OS upgrades as the CMF, three.

At EUR330 for a unit with 256GB, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion may seem expensive at the moment. However, the old Fusion enjoyed many price reductions. This one uses the Dimensity 7300, which also has a microSD slot. It also has a 10-bit OLED screen with a higher resolution of 1220p+ and a brightness of 4,500 nits. It’s also IP69 rated.

This camera has a 50MP (1/1.56″) main camera with OIS, and a 13MP Ultra-wide. There is no telephoto. The battery is the same size (5200mAh) but has a double charge rate (68W).

Our review will provide the answer. The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, however, takes a different approach. Its 200MP main camera performs well at both 1x (binned down to 12.5MP), and 2x. The 200MP photos are not worth the increased file size.

For around EUR250, the Note comes with a 256GB model that uses the same Dimensity Ultra chipset. It also has 3 OS updates and no microSD slot. The Poco’s 6.67″ 12-bit Dolby vision display with 1220p+ is similar. The CMF phone’s battery is slightly better, with a 5,110mAh and 45W charger. It also has an IP68 rating that is better (even though it is not IP69).

What do you think? Is the CMF Phone 2 Pro right for you, or are you considering a different model within this price range?
