Weekly poll: Honor Magic8 Pro and Magic8 launch, but is it right for you?

Honor launched the Magic8 Pro and Magic8 a few days ago. They went on sale earlier this week in China. Honor has confirmed that the Magic8 Series will be available worldwide, but we do not have any concrete details yet. Would you buy the Magic8 Pro or Magic8?

Both models feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the new AI button. The 2025 models have larger batteries than the predecessors despite being smaller than the Magic7-series phones.

Honor Magic8 & Magic8 Pro

Let’s start with the Honor Magic8 Pro. It has a 6.71″ display, which is down from the 6.8″ of last year’s model. The battery for the Chinese model is 7,200mAh, while the European unit is 6,270mAh (compared to 5,850mAh and 5270mAh last year).

Although the main camera still has a 50MP sensor in a 1/1.3″, it now features a fixed aperture of f/1.6. The 200MP 1/1.4” sensor in the telephoto lens is now paired up with a longer, 3.7x, lens, instead of 3x.

The Honor Magic8 is in a similar situation – it has a smaller 6.58” OLED display, down from 6.78”, while packing a larger 7,000mAh battery.

The camera has seen a downgrade as the 50MP main now has a smaller 1/1.56” sensor, while the Magic7 matched its Pro sibling at 1/1.3”. The telephoto module was swapped as well, with a 64MP sensor instead of 50MP, but it remains at the same 3x magnification.

Here’s how much the Honor Magic8 and Magic8 Pro cost in China – they are the same as last year, so global prices should be the same too (or at least very close).
