According to reports, a film will be made that depicts the chaos at OpenAI when CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Sam Altman were fired and rehired in just five days.

According to””https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/luca-guadagnino-to-direct-openai-movie-1236236357/” ” rel=””noreferrer noopener nofollow”” target=””_blank” “> The Hollywood Reporterreports that the movie, titled “Artificial,” is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios.

Details aren’t finalized but sources tell THR that Luca Guadagnino (known for “Call Me by Your Name”, “Challengers”) is in talks to direct. The studio is looking at Andrew Garfield as Altman, Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown) for former CTO Mira Murati and Yura Boisov (Anora) for Ilya Sutskever. Altman was removed by the studio after a cofounder, Ilya, urged his removal.

According to reports, Simon Rich, the writer of “Saturday Night Live”wrote the screenplay. This suggests that the film will have comedic elements. The idea of an OpenAI comedy film seems appropriate, since AI is a ridiculous field and the events of two years ago were absurd.

Sam Altman, the CEO of the AI company, resigned both from his role as board member and CEO in November 2023. The board did not trust Altman’s ability to lead effectively. Altman was reinstated just five days after the agreement was reached.

It will be fascinating to see the way “Artificial”which is a dramatization of the story, is received by the general public, especially with the growing popularity of AI tools such as ChatGPT. Lauren covers media, streaming apps, and platforms for TechCrunch.
