SearchGPT is now available as a shortcut in ChatGPT on iOS

We reported last month that OpenAI had finally launched SearchGPT. This is a search engine created by OpenAI, which uses artificial intelligence to combine and find the best results on the web. With the latest ChatGPT iOS update, it’s easier to use SearchGPT.

ChatGPT app now adds SearchGPT extension for Apple Shortcuts.

In the latest version of this app, users can create shortcuts that open SearchGPT. This shortcut allows you to open a new chat in the ChatGPT application with SearchGPT enabled. It’s important to note that shortcuts can either be added to your Home Screen, or triggered by Siri. OpenAI has upgraded ChatGPT to provide the features that we’ve come to expect from search providers such as Google and Bing. OpenAI explains:

ChatGPT now searches the web much more effectively than before. You can now get quick, timely answers by using links to relevant web resources, instead of having to use a search engine. This combines the benefits of a native language interface with the value that comes from having the most up-to-date news, sports scores, stock quotes, etc.

ChatGPT can search the web automatically based on the questions you ask or manually by clicking the icon for web search. OpenAI has partnered up with news and data providers to provide real-time content and package it into new designs tailored for specific content types.

With iOS 18.2, which will be released to iPhone and iPad users in December, Apple is adding ChatGPT integration to Siri. The update will let users interact with the OpenAI chatbot directly from the Siri interface, and the same applies to Writing Tools. Paid ChatGPT users can also benefit from the extra features by logging into their account in the iOS Settings app.

As for the new shortcut, itโ€™s available with the latest version of the ChatGPT app that you can download from the App Store. Itโ€™s worth noting that SearchGPT is currently exclusive to ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers.
