Samsung Galaxy Watch8 is expected to arrive with a squircle-shaped body, similar to the Galaxy Watch Ultra that was released last year. The Galaxy Watch8 is available in two sizes. The Watch8 Classic will only come in one size.
The information below comes from a deep look inside the One UI 8 Watch Firmware for the Galaxy Watch8 Classic. One of the animations shows the images below (to the right of the names, Samsung’s internal codenames for these devices).
The images show that the Watch8 series has a squircle-shaped body, but will still have a circular display, just like the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The divisive design has now been implemented across the entire range.
It is possible that the Galaxy Watch8 Classic will also receive a Quick Button, similar to the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic may also support extended vibration patterns. Unfortunately, it’s not clear from these data if it will also feature the much-anticipated spinning bezel.
One UI 8 Watch will be launched with the Galaxy Watch8 series, bringing the Now Bar, which debuted on smartphones in One UI 7, to watches. There will be support for randomized watches faces, a battery-saving feature that limits charging below a certain percentage and a new Shortcuts App which allows you to place frequently used apps directly onto your watch face.
