Report: Foldable iPhone will launch ‘next’ year, using technologies from iPhone 17 Air.

Today, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (19459036) confirmed that Apple will launch its foldable iPhone by 2026. Apple had been reported to be working on a foldable iPhone by many outlets. Gurman says that the product will look more like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold than a clamshell device. Gurman reports

that this new Apple Foldable will use many of the same technology as the upcoming ultra thin iPhone 17 Air. It’s going be one of the thinnest Apple devices ever, and the thinnest iPhone – measuring just 5.5mm.

There are some compromises with the iPhone 17 Air, such as the speakers and cameras. But, other than that, it’s the full iPhone experience. The battery life will be good. This phone is a kind of thought experiment to see how many components can be squeezed into a thin device. This will be crucial for the development of a folding phone.

There aren’t many details on the upcoming Apple Fold, but Gurman believes that it will be priced at around $2000. He also says that it will take some time for production to ramp up so the availability may be limited at first. If all goes according to plan, the foldable iPhone will be included in the iPhone 18 lineup. Ming-Chi Kuo, a supply chain analyst, previously stated that the foldable iPhone would have a 5.5″ outer display and a 7.8″ inner display. This is similar to an iPad Mini .
