Report: Apple plans to release AI smart glass next year

Apple is accelerating its plans to compete against Meta’s popular Ray-Ban Smart Glasses. Bloomberg. Reports indicate that Apple will release smart glasses at the end of the year. The company has also dropped its plans to launch an Apple Watch with built-in cameras.

According to the report, Apple will “start manufacturing large quantities of prototypes by the end of this calendar year.” The glasses have cameras, microphones and speakers built in so that they can “analyze and take requests using the Siri voice assistant.” They will also be able to make phone calls, play music, provide turn-by-turn navigation and offer live translation. The report states that “a person with knowledge about the glasses said that they will be similar but better made to the Meta product.” Apple’s Vision Products Group is leading the project, as it did with Vision Pro. Apple employees are concerned about the impact of the company’s AI struggles on the smart glasses.
