The new Razer Blade 18 offers very fast components and is currently one of the fastest laptops you can get. It is even 1 kg lighter and even a bit quieter than the big rival Alienware 18. However, the Razer is also more expensive.

18″ gaming laptops are among the fastest mobile devices. This is also true of the two high-end gaming laptops Razer Blade 18 & Alienware 18 that we tested using the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and the Nvidia GeForce RTX5090 Laptop. Both devices also feature IPS panels.
While it is debatable whether an 18-inch laptop can be considered portable, the weight of the two devices is quite different. The Alienware 18 weighs almost 4.2 kg while the Razer Blade 18 is only 3.2 kg. This is a 1 kg difference. This is a significant difference, especially because Razer uses metal chassis. Alienware has a larger footprint.
It is not true that the size and weight difference affects the performance. The Alienware 18 does manage to squeeze a little more performance from the Core Ultra 9 (275HX), but the GPU performance and gaming performance are almost identical. Both laptops are among the fastest on the market. The Razer Blade 18 has a slightly lower noise level than the Alienware 18 and both machines are faster. The Alienware 18 has lower temperatures on the surface when under load. However, the Blade 18’s temperatures are not critical so this isn’t a deciding factor.
Lastly, the price is another factor. Considering the high-end configurations that we tested, neither machine is a bargain. The Blade 18 with its highest memory/storage specs is $5199.99. The Alienware 18 has a list of $4899.99 but a current discount of $450 (4349.99). For more information, please see our review of the Blade 18 2025.
