). OpenAI will not reveal the details of ChatGPT’s upcoming upgrade, the new foundational model “GPT-5,” but it is being prepared.
The new foundational model ‘GPT-5’ is being prepared for public release, but OpenAI won’t share the specifics. In a recent interviewSam Altman, CEO of OpenAI and co-founder, confirmed that ChatGPT will release its GPT-5 model sometime in the summer. However, it depends on several factors. OpenAI has set internal benchmarks for GPT-5 and other standards. If these are not met, OpenAI may not release the model.
Sam said that he does not know ‘exactly’ when GPT-5 will roll out, but it will have significant improvements.
“I don’t know exactly when. One thing that we go back and forth on is how much are we supposed to, like, turn up the big number on new models versus what we did with GPT-4o, which is just better and better and better,”Sam added.
OpenAI confirmed previously that GPTs and Operator would also be getting a major upgrade, and GPT-5 wasn’t the only version the company was cooking.
