The South China Morning Post reports that NVIDIA will launch a new AI chip for China in July as a response to the increasingly strict US export controls. This new model is confirmed as a smaller version of the H20 chip. In April, NVIDIA was subjected to further restrictions by the Trump administration, which required a license for the export of the H20 chip into China. NVIDIA had a large inventory of the H20, which was designed specifically for the Chinese market. They also secured a substantial production capacity.
