According to US tech media outlet The Information, NVIDIA acquired Chinese startup Lepton AI for several hundred millions dollars. NVIDIA may have acquired Lepton AI to help develop its cloud and software division, which is in its early stages, and competes with cloud giants like Google Cloud, Microsoft and AWS. Lepton AI has approximately 20 employees. According to sources, both Jia Yangqing (co-founder) and Bai Junjie (co-founder) have joined NVIDIA. Jia was Alibaba’s Vice-President of Technology between March 2019 and March 2023.
