Zotac is preparing to release the updated version of its gaming handheld, now branded as the Zotac Zone Pro. Originally unveiled earlier this year, this new iteration is scheduled for an October launch and features a Linux-based operating system, an OLED screen, and dual trackpads, although it retains a relatively modest battery capacity.
The second generation of Zotac’s Zone gaming handheld was first introduced at CES 2025 in January, followed by a demonstration at Computex 2025 in May, where it ran a customized Manjaro Linux distribution. At that time, the device was referred to as the Zotac Zone 2.
To differentiate this model from its predecessor, Zotac rebranded it as the Zotac Zone Pro during its Gamescom 2025 presentation. The “Pro” designation highlights its enhanced specifications, including an optional 32 GB RAM configuration and the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 HX 370 processor. This chipset is comparable to those found in other high-end gaming handhelds like the OneXFly F1 Pro, which currently retails around $1,439 on Amazon.
Despite these upgrades, the overall design and hardware features remain largely consistent with the original Zotac Zone, suggesting a focus on refining rather than overhauling the device.
According to reports from PC Games Hardware, Zotac aims to release the Zone Pro in October 2025. This launch window coincides with the debut of competing devices such as the ROG Xbox Ally X, intensifying the competition in the portable gaming market. As of now, Zotac has not disclosed the final pricing or detailed availability information for the Zone Pro, leaving potential buyers awaiting further announcements.
