Neko Health, the company founded by Spotify CEO Neko, opens its largest body-scanning facility yet

The body-scanning startup Neko Health opened its largest clinic to date, continuing its expansion into London just six months after opening its first site.

This futuristic facility will expand access to Neko’s high-tech vision of health. The startup maps millions of datapoints in minutes by combining body scans, AI, lidar sensors and blood pressure checks with eye pressure checks and strength tests. The findings can reveal warnings about the skin, heart and blood vessels. The user is then taken through the findings by a human doctor. In less than an hour, the patient is on their way to leave the clinic.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek, and his business partner Hjalmar Nisonne, are the creators of this system. The two want to move healthcare systems away from reactive to proactive.

In 2023, the duo launched Neko in Sweden. Last year, they expanded the service to London, starting with a health centre in the chic Marylebone neighbourhood. The second London facility will dramatically increase the company’s capabilities. The centre is located in the bustling Spitalfields market and covers7,466 square foot. It can perform up to 30,000 scans per year.

Nilsonne said, “This health center is built to scale and we are doubling down in London.” London calling Neko.

The new centre is designed in a space-age style that echoes the aesthetics of the original London site. Neko has already announced plans to open another two clinics in London’s capital. The company also hopes to launch in other cities of the UK this year.

According to a spokesperson for Neko, London was “a strategic decision” for Neko’s expansion outside of Stockholm.

It represents the global market, offering a lot health tourism and a highly competitive space for private healthcare,” they stated.

If we can break into the market, we have a good chance of doing it elsewhere. London is also a global hub for healthcare, with world-class research centres and medical institutions.

There are enough people in the city willing to pay PS299 per body scan. The Marylebone Centre attracted Long waitlistsNeko reported that 80% of members at both the London and Stockholm locations prepay for a scan the following year after their appointment. Neko has completed more than 15,000 scans between the two centres

. TNW has added another scan to the total earlier this year. During our doctor’s consultation we were told to seek an additional review. We’ll reveal the details of our experience and Neko’s findings once we have our NHS appointment.
