Meta.AI is now available in your AI folder, alongside Gemini, Copilot Claude, Grok and ChatGPT

Meta’s new standalone Meta AI application gives users a dedicated place to interact with their AI Assistant. The Llama 4 is the latest AI model that has been designed to provide a more conversational and personal AI experience. This can be accessed directly from your smartphone.

Many already use Meta AI on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger, but this new app offers a more focused interface. It’s primarily designed around voice interactions. This is to create a more natural and seamless experience compared to typing prompts.

Meta claims that Llama 4 provides more conversational and relevant responses. They’re letting Aussies try out an experimental full duplex voice demo to create a more natural back and forth, but it’s still early days for this tech. Here are some key features

:

  • Web Search Integration AI can search the internet to answer questions, give recommendations, or assist you in researching topics directly within the chat.
  • Discover feed See how others use the AI. You can even remix popular prompts for your own purposes.
  • Image Generation & Editing (19459030) Create and modify images using voice or text commands in your conversation with the AI Assistant.
  • Full-Duplex Experimental Voice Australia First Test a more natural speech interaction where the AI produces speech directly. It lacks real-time access to the web for now, and may have some inconsistencies.
  • Meta is testing document handling (Testing) (Australia First). Meta is testing features that generate text and image files (exportable to PDF) and import documents directly within the AI.

Good news for Ray-Ban Meta smart glass owners: the new Meta AI companion app replaces the old Meta View app. The updated app should automatically transfer your glasses settings, paired device, and saved media to a new tab called ‘Devices.’ This integration provides continuity by allowing you to start a Meta AI chat on your glasses, and then view its history in the app or web. You can chat between the web interface and the app, and pick up where you left off.

Meta AI’s web experience (meta.ai), which aligns with the new features of the app, is also receiving an upgrade. It now includes voice interaction and the Discover feed to prompt inspiration.

With more presets, options and options for image generation, the web interface is more useful for desktop workflows. The document analysis and generation features that are being tested in Australia can also be accessed via the web.

You are in control, as you can toggle the default voice activation (“Ready to Talk”) if you prefer to use it hands-free. The app appears to be free for download and use.

Although the app is being rolled out globally, Australia has been one of the first to gain access to the voice conversation features and the experimental full duplex demo.

Meta’s move to integrate AI into its ecosystem is a clear indication of its ambition. It will be interesting how users adopt this dedicated interface.
