MediaTek officially announced the Dimensity-9400+, its latest flagship system-on chip (SoC) from the Dimensity series. The Dimensity 9400+ is designed to power the next-generation Android experience. It delivers major leaps in generative and agentic artificial intelligence, gaming graphics and connectivity on devices, while maintaining superior energy efficiency.
The Dimensity 9400+’s All Big Core design is at the heart of its performance. It features a high-performance Arm Cortex X925 core that runs up to 3.73GHz alongside four Cortex A720 and three Cortex X4 cores. This architecture delivers top-tier performance for single-threaded and multi-threaded Android applications, multitasking and real-time AI workloads. The Dimensity 8400+ is equipped with the powerful MediaTek NPU890 to provide fast, energy-efficient support for large language models (LLMs). It supports advanced AI technologies such as Mixture-of-Experts, Multi-Head Attention (MLA), Multiple-Token Predictions (MTP), FP8 inferencing and Multi-Token Predictions (MTP).
MediaTek’s Dimensity Agentic AI Engine, which simplifies the conversion of traditional AI apps to agentic AI applications, is also available for developers building next-gen AI software. The chipset introduces Speculative Decoding+, which boosts agentic AI performance up to 20% and ensures faster and context-aware reactions.
Dimensity’s 9400+ is equipped with a 12-core Arm Immortalis G925 GPU that brings console-class visual quality to mobile gaming. Support for opacity-micromap (OMM), a technology that enhances the realism of complex visuals like hair, feathers and foliage, without compromising performance.
MediaTek’s Frame rate Converter 2.0+ (MFRC 2.x), developed in collaboration between game developers and MediaTek, doubles the effective frame rates, and improves battery efficiency by up 40%. This allows for extended gaming sessions, with smoother gameplay, and reduced battery drain.
MediaTek Imagiq’s 1090 allows users to record HDR video at any zoom level, delivering professional quality even for distant subjects. The chipset, when combined with Smooth Zoom and intelligent tracking, allows seamless video transitions. It also isolates desired visuals and sound from busy scenes.
